UAL BLOG 8 (October 2024) – Halloween – The most wonderful time of the year!
It’s the most wonderful time of the year…
No, not Christmas- Halloween! Don’t come to me with any complaints about it being an American holiday- yes, they sent it stratospheric (and I approve- imagine New Orleans on October 31st, my ideal party!), but Halloween dates back on these very islands to the ancient Celtic festival of Samhain, over 2,000 years ago.
Perfectly timed just as the clocks go back, it’s a great way of owning the dark nights and greeting winter with colour and fun. If New Orleans is my dream party, I’m lucky enough to be in my dream job- uniform, sports, club and costume clothing specialist, access to the best suppliers, shops to stock and windows to dress? At Halloween? Bring it on!
We pride ourselves on our huge range of traditional, new and surprising Halloween costumes, chosen direct from our partners at dress-up experts Smiffys. It’s always fun to generate friendly competition between the shops’ fabulous window displays- is that Dracula at Lancaster, and Frankenstein in Morecambe? What are Garstang being so secretive about? Are Kirkham really recreating “Squid Game”?!
The staff love dressing up, helping and having a laugh with customers. You don’t even have to travel to see all our great ranges: we’re always sharing on Facebook and Instagram, so keep checking in for lots of inspiration, outfits, news and spookily special offers. Comment on what we’re wearing, tag and share your outfits- not just for Halloween: we love seeing all the events and activities you get up to in UAL clothing.
This levity is also welcome timing after our busiest time of year. Supplying uniform for schools right across the North West and beyond, we’ve lost count of how many hundreds of wriggling, growing, fidgeting, posing and smiling kids we’ve kitted out for the new school year. We know it can be a stressful time for all, so thanks for your patience and understanding when everyone wants our undivided attention at the same time. We’re all on the same side; a little kindness means a lot.
With best wishes for wonderful half-term fun and Halloween frights from all at UAL,
Vicki xx
